“The Word” Day 11: Fear

Fear

“anxious concern – profound reverence and awe especially toward God”

I am sure like me; we have all been overcome by a significant fear in our lives.
I can reflect on one specific fear I had for most of my adult life, the fear of dying.
It was always there lurking in the shadows and would step in powerfully from time to time.
It was just a few short years ago that I crushed that spirit of fear, story for another time.
Death will come for all of us, I am no longer afraid.
I believe the definition above speaks to the current presence in my life, I have
anxious concern, that I will be found ready and worthy of God’s presence when called.
I especially like the profound reverence and awe part,
Yes, we should fear God, but not to tremble or hide, but to step up and be in Awe of Him!

There are many beautiful passages from the bible that speak to Fear and Anxiety, this one from Timothy spoke to me

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
(2 Timothy 1:7)

God, let me never lose my reverence and awe of you
