During some pre-marketing planning, I spent a day reflecting on what The FEST Family Day theme “Hearts on Fire” truly means. Ultimately, I found that each reference to this phrase in scripture leads us back to His NAME and His WORD. What does this mean for us in our everyday lives? Well, it simply means that we are not only called to live by example, but we are called to live by example with CONVICTION. I am not talking about holding a sign on the street corner announcing, “Jesus is coming”, rather it is having a mark on your soul that humbly says, “The Lord is with us in our hearts each and every moment of every day.”
Initially, not even the disciples carried conviction after Jesus was crucified because they weren’t 100% sure what was going to happen. The best example in the Bible where they start to gain conviction and it references “Hearts on Fire” is Luke 24:20-36. In this passage, Jesus walks along the road with the disciples who are journeying back after He is crucified and has risen…problem is, they do not comprehend it is their Master. It is only after He “leaves” them they realize it was Christ who walked WITH them and in disbelief they look at each other saying “Were not your hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us.” They are disappointed and beating themselves up thinking “He has given us everything and we can’t even recognize him.” How often are you downplaying the feeling of elation that comes through the awesome things that God does for you when He is right there next to you in your life? We need to display the confidence of what we believe in a manner that others know we trust beyond doubt in the faith we hold.
Jesus really is the answer for all our hopes; we need to TRUST him NO matter what. Scripture renews our minds and ignites our hearts! What can we do to deepen our bond to know Him all the time and to not be ashamed to deny this AMAZING relationship or be fearful of it in front of others? We cannot hide a “Heart that is On Fire” because the light it radiates is too bright for those around us to ignore. Just as it says in Psalm 119:105, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” …We are the ones who have to illuminate the way for others.
Let’s allow our own commitment to set our “Hearts On Fire” enabling us to proclaim and live with belief, faith and hope in the midst of difficult and uncertain times. Someday, somewhere, your problems will be bigger than anything on this Earth can help you with, and I hope you feel convicted enough to rely on your conversations with the one who created you in order to get through them.

Oh I am changed, yesterday is gone
I am safe from this moment on”~from ‘Better Hands Now’ by Natalie Grant
