Follow
“To seek or attain - to engage in as a calling or way of life “
I like these definitions because they fit best what I was thinking when Jesus asks,
“Follow me”
Sometimes we must look beyond the word, The Greek word for follow
Akoloutheo, also means, “accompany and assist”
We are not just called to Follow Jesus, but to assist Him, precisely what
He asked of Simon and Andrew, Matthew and so many others when He
offered them the simple words, “Follow Me.” Jesus knew what he was asking of them,
and they found out in time, what He was preparing them for.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)
Jesus, give me the strength and grace to follow, to accompany you, and prepare me
to assist you in Your Kingdom here on earth!
