“To endow with some power, quality, or attribute.” “A present.”
Gifts/Presents……who doesn’t like them, who hesitates to open them?
As a kid and even as an adult the excitement is there, we can’t wait to see what is inside!
Our God gives us gifts all the time and throughout our lives, at Baptism we received
wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of God.
these were strengthened even further at Confirmation, with the fruits.
And if that’s not enough, our loving God offers us Gifts of the Holy Spirit, thru baptism in the Holy Spirit.
Not to mention the best gift of all, His Body Blood Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist.
Most of my adult life I was unaware of these gifts, was it ignorance or lack of caring, not sure.
Again, my favorite apostle St. Paul, tells us about these beautiful gifts in (1 Cor 12)
The gifts of Wisdom, Knowledge, Faith, Healing, Miracles, Prophecy,
Discerning of Spirits, Tongues, and Interpretation of Tongues.
Why are we reluctant to seek them
and open these gifts with the same anticipation and joy?
God wants us to have them!!!
Yes, Paul says not all gifts will be given to a person, but why not ask God for the one or two
He wants us to have and open it, use it, and share it with everyone we meet.
Let’s not forget the best gift of all, His Body Blood Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist.
Come Holy Spirit, Soak me, power me, endow me!
