Betray
“To fail or to desert especially in time of need”
I started to reflect on what this word meant to me. How many times did I betray Jesus
during my life, knowingly and unknowingly.
Too many times, I set Him aside and gave into the temptations, I abandoned Him for years.
Even today, I feel there are times I betray Him, times when I put off prayer, because of
something else I want to do, times when I am presented with a need, and I
ignore it. Times when I only depend on myself (pride) and don’t seek Him. And those times when I
should share Him, and don’t. But unlike Judas, I repent and ask His forgiveness. Those days are few
but yet they happen, I’m human and flawed.
And through it all, He waited, He loved me, He never gave up on me, He forgives freely.
“While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him; but Jesus said to him, “Judas, is it with a kiss that you are betraying the Son of Man?”
(Luke 22:47-48)
Jesus, give me the grace to seek You in all things, to never betray, and to obey always!
