PASSION
“Intense, driving, or overmastering feeling of conviction, ardent affection, emotion.”
In reflection, I realize there have been many things during my life that I have been passionate about. I have learned that at times passion can be good or bad, sinful or righteous, and sometimes overwhelming to the point of overriding rationality. It took some time to realize desires are not passions!
Not all passions are gifts from God, but I can take heart that my passion for the Love of Jesus did not happen overnight. No! it developed slowly, at times being led by the hand, guided by key folks in my life, lessons learned by pursuing passions/desires that were sinful, spiritual lessons by priests, and quiet gifts from God!
“ Zeal for your house will consume me.” (John 2:17)
“Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh
with its passions and desires “ (Galatians 5:24)
Lord God, let my love for You always be intense and full of conviction!
